About us

The property was bought in 1971 and our family has been restoring and caring for it ever since. I am the manager of the property, am an Architect, trained at Harvard University and Columbia/Barnard, and currently work as both an Architect and a Professor. I have lived in Cyprus for many years. I have a wonderful family, we love to travel and collect beautiful things and renovate the Villa whenever we can! The Villa is our passion, and I wish to make your stay the best possible for you. I hope that you will love this wonderful place as much as we do!

The caretakers of the property, who will prepare the villa for your stay, live in the village, just a few minutes down the road! They will greet you when you arrive, give you the keys (if you come in late they will meet you the next day at a convenient time), and give you lots of useful information about the area, local shops, outings and secret beaches! They will also explain the details of the house and the accessible areas of the larger property grounds.

Rules

The Villa Mare is a traditional Cypriot stone built farmhouse dating to around 1875 with wooden doors and windows and both wooden and marble floors inside. The furniture is mostly made of wood and many pieces are antiques. Thus, we ask you not to damage anything and to leave the house exactly as you found it. Please do not smoke inside and if you do smoke outside please carefully extinguish your cigarettes, as forest fires are prevalent in Cyprus and the house is surrounded by trees. Please do not light fires anywhere inside or out, except in the woodburning stove. The items in the home are personal and due care would be much appreciated.
